The Hummingbird Suzuki Academy (HSA) is a unique music learning experience for pre-natal babies, infants, and toddlers up to three years old. HSA uses the non-franchised curriculum of the Suzuki Early Childhood Education program which specifically recognizes the importance of partnership with parents to develop an enriched learning environment for children, and fosters ability in young students through a set curriculum (not the "teach and move on" approach!) which ensures thorough mastery by children of the lullabies, action songs, and rhymes that make up the repertoire of the program.

The HSA upholds the tenets central to Suzuki Early Childhood Education (SECE). For more information about SECE, visit this site: As SECE educators, we believe in the following seven statements:

Every Child Can Learn

Ability Develops Early

Environment Nurtures Growth

Children Learn From One Another

Success Breeds Success

Parental Involvement Is Critical

Encouragement Is Essential

The following description is directly from the Suzuki Association of the Americas website (linked above) for SECE: Suzuki Early Childhood Education (SECE) is a program in which a mixed age group of children meet weekly, building on concepts and skills laid out in the SECE repertoire while interacting with one another, their parents, and the teachers. The parent plays a central role in all activities in the belief that the parent is the child’s first and most important teacher. Through parent participation in prenatal, baby, and preschool classes, parents become partners in providing an enriched natural environment for the growth of their children.

Suzuki ECE seeks to build on the child’s natural delight in learning and lays the foundation for life-long learning that meets Dr. Suzuki’s goals for all children—to create an environment for children, free from pressure, in which they can gain skills, a sense of purpose in life, an understanding of discipline, and an appreciation of beauty.
